As part of Session IV: The IT Challenge: Building an Infrastructure to Handle the Complexity for Life, Dr. Christopher Ahlberg will focus on how the advent of genomics and high throughput discovery techniques in the 90's and the long wave of corporate mergers have created corporate R&D repositories which house an immense amount of vital historical information. He will educate attendees on how to effectively exploit these vast stores of data by implementing information management systems that deliver critical information to the researchers' desktop, simplifying data analysis and exploration and fostering collaborative decision making.

Dr. Christopher Ahlberg founded Spotfire based on his doctoral computer science research in the areas of human-computer interaction, information visualization, and database exploration. He pioneered the area of information visualization, developing multiple groundbreaking systems that show how database querying and exploration could be done in a significantly different way through visual data analysis. He has published a range of papers, as well as consulted to many large corporations and institutions around the world in the area of information visualization. Dr. Ahlberg earned his doctorate from Chalmers University of Technology.
