ADVISORY/ RIAA Takes Stand to Protect Legitimate Online Marketplace.

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Seeks Legal Action Against Manufacturer of MP3 Recording Device

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America, Washington, DC, www.riaa.com) A membership association of music recording companies. Its goal is to promote the record label industry and protect the rights of copyright owners. It was a major contributor to the SDMI digital distribution system. ), the trade group representing the U.S. sound recording industry, is deeply concerned that widespread use of illegal MP3 recording devices will damage the legitimate commercial market for digitally downloaded music before it has a chance to really begin. In a move to protect the creative content of the music industry, the RIAA announced today that it has taken legal action against a manufacturer of an MP3 recording device. The device is in violation of the 1992 Audio Home Recording Act.
