New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 Power Authority (NYPA) will break ground on Wednesday, Nov. 6, to formally mark the start of construction of a new state-of-the-art generating plant in Queens that will help meet New York City's future electricity requirements, and improve air quality.  P. Ciminelli, New York State and local officials and representatives of environmental groups will participate in the event, which will feature remarks by several key speakers, as well as photo opportunities.

Please note: photo identification will be required to enter the power plant site.

WHEN:  Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 12 noon

WHERE: Charles Poletti Power Project, 31-03 20th Ave.
       (31st Street and 20th Avenue.) Astoria.

DIRECTIONS:
(From Manhattan and the Bronx)

-- Take Triborough Bridge, proceeding southbound toward Long Island
-- Exit at 31st Street in Astoria
-- Cross 31st Street and go one block beyond, then turn left onto
   33rd Street
-- At the light, turn left onto Hoyt Avenue
-- Then turn right onto 31st Street, continuing to entrance
   at 20th Ave. and 31st St.

(From Queens, Brooklyn and Long Island)

-- Take Grand Central Parkway westbound to Hoyt Ave. exit, proceed
   to 31st St.
-- Continue to main plant entrance at 20th Ave.
