Neighborhood Housing Services of the South Shore and Urban Edge will announce a funding award from Neighborhood Reinvestment Reinvestment

Using dividends, interest and capital gains earned in an investment or mutual fund to purchase additional shares or units, rather than receiving the distributions in cash.

1. In terms of stocks, it is the reinvestment of dividends to purchase additional shares.
 Corporation in the amount of $400,000 for their Regional "Section 8 to Homeownership" Program at a joint public announcement to be held during National NeighborWorks Week.

The event will be held on Friday June 7th at 10 AM at Quincy City Hall, 2nd floor conference room, 1305 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA.

Urban Edge, located in Roxbury, and Neighborhood Housing Services of the South Shore, located in Quincy, have formed a Regional "Section 8 to Homeownership" Program. This joint program responds to Mayor Menino's challenge for regional solutions to the affordable housing challenge for low-and moderate-income residents of Greater Boston Greater Boston is the area of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts surrounding the city of Boston, Massachusetts. While Metro Boston tends to be the "Inner Core" surrounding the City of Boston, Greater Boston overlaps the North and South Shores, as well as the MetroWest region. .

HUD's "Section 8 to Homeownership" Program allows certificate holders to use their governmental rent assistance to go towards the purchase of a home. The NHS/Urban Edge partnership provides training programs and access to funding sources for eligible participants in the program.

A joint funding application submitted in March of this year to Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation for this program was funded this week in the amount of $400,000. The organizations anticipate that this funding will allow them to assist 30 additional families to become new homeowners.
