Returning students at Chattanooga State Technical Community College will soon be able to participate in one of the first truly interactive, Internet-based classrooms from anywhere in the world. Dr. James Catanzaro, president of the college and professor of religion and philosophy, spent the past year producing the nation's first fully interactive streaming media educational program.

The course, entitled "Religions of the World as Practiced in Contemporary U.S.A.," was filmed on location across the country and includes hyperlinks to text material, additional interviews and supportive and explanatory video segments. Professor Catanzaro says the program includes embedded obstacles and interactive queries to test student competence throughout the course and is a major advance over existing text-based distance learning methodologies.
