In May 1998, President Clinton issued Presidential Decision Directive (PDD) 63 on critical infrastructure protection Department of Defense (DOD) program to identify and protect assets critical to the Defense Transportation System. Loss of a critical asset would result in failure to support the mission of a combatant commander. .

Participants from industry serve on the Board of the newly formed "IT-ISAC IT-ISAC Information Technology - Information Sharing and Analysis Center (industry consortium) " and will outline goals, mission and operations of the center.
