Haemonetics Corporation (NYSE: HAE) will be presenting three oral presentations and seven poster presentations and moderating two scientific sessions at the upcoming 27th Congress of the International Society of Blood Transfusion The International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) is a scientific society, founded in 1935, which aims to promote the study of blood transfusion, and to spread the know-how about the manner in which blood transfusion medicine and science best can serve the patient's interests. , which will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia. Haemonetics will address aspects of the entire field of blood transfusion medicine. The Congress will be held at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre from August 24 through August 29, 2002.

Among the topics discussed, Haemonetics will showcase its new high separation bowl, which allows plasma leukocyte reduction during collection without filtration. Leukocyte reduction is the removal of white cells from blood components. White cells can be harmful when transfused to certain types of patients. Data has found that the Haemonetics High Separation(TM) Core (HSC HSC - High Speed Connect ) bowl provides a safe and effective method for performing plasma collections, improving component separation, and thereby reducing cellular content. The HSC bowl has received the CE Mark, and is commercially available in Europe.

Haemonetics will also cover topics spanning the entire blood collection industry, including data management, quality assurance, extended platelet storage, red blood cell red blood cell: see blood.  washing, blood freezing, blood storage and surgical blood salvage.

In addition, Haemonetics will be exhibiting a variety of its automated blood collection and processing technologies, including the OrthoPAT(TM) system, which collects and cleanses red blood cells Red blood cells
