ADVISORY/ Chopper to Fly Lift Towers Into New Dodge Ridge Ski Terrain Monday 9/21 Beginning At 7:30 A.M.

--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- -0- WHAT: PINECREST, Calif.--The sight of a helicopter flying chairlift towers and dropping them in place is one usually reserved for wildlife and construction crews only. WHEN: Monday morning, Sept. 21, 1998, from approximately 7:30 a.m. until about 10 a.m., an Ericsson Sky Crane helicopter will fly lift towers and crossbars into place in Boulder Creek Canyon, where Dodge Ridge Ski Area is completing the largest expansion project in the California ski industry this year. This is the first Quad Chair ever for a Central Sierra ski area. Once the chopper hovers over the tower hole, a ground crew guides the tower into place. The helicopter fly-in is used for lift installation in remote areas of ski terrain where access by traditional large construction cranes isn't possible. The footage and photos are seldom seen by skiers and snowboarders who will ride the lifts once the snow flies.
