BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 7, 2002

Boston Cares is celebrating its 6th Annual Corporate Volunteer Day on Saturday, May 18th from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The day begins with over thirty service projects throughout Greater Boston from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., and concludes with a Celebration of Service from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Bishop's Pub and Sweetwater Cafe in the Alley on Boylston Street. Proceeds from the sponsorship event will support Boston Cares' year-round programming.

More than 30 companies will volunteer at local non-profit organizations for this special city-wide day of corporate community service. Teams of volunteers from businesses across the region will partake in service projects, including planting crops for the hungry, landscaping city parks, and painting schools. After the service projects have concluded, volunteers are invited to the "Celebration of Service" at Bishop's Pub and Sweetwater Cafe in the Alley on Boylston Street for food, drinks and a raffle. James L. Brantley III, Director of Community Relations for Zoo New England, will be the keynote speaker.

Goals of Boston Cares Corporate Volunteer Day 2002:

-- Deliver more than 3,000 hours of volunteer labor in a single day

-- Mobilize over 600 individuals to work on projects that benefit neighborhoods throughout Greater Boston

-- Engage over 30 local companies in meaningful community service

-- Enable businesses and individuals to experience the rewards of corporate volunteerism

-- Raise the funding required to support and expand Boston Cares' year-round programming of team-based community service projects
