ADVISORY/ Bob Lamoureux, Co-Author of Fix Protocol and CTO of WorldStreet Corporation, to Speak at the Financial Protocols Conference.Business/Technology Editors ADVISORY ...for Monday Monday: see week. (March 5) --(BUSINESS WIRE) WorldStreet Corporation
WHAT: Bob Lamoureux, co-author of the FIX
protocol and chief technology officer of
WorldStreet Corporation, a leading
developer of communications infrastructure
technologies for peer-to-peer (P2P)
networks, to speak at the Financial
Protocols conference.
The topic of Lamoureux's discussion - the
migration from FIX to FIXML - will focus on
the business and technological trigger
points that firms should use in deciding
when and how a migration should occur. A
case study, discussing the strategy of
implementation migration paths, will
highlight the current state of the
technology that is available to make a
FIXML transition and what some of the
issues are regarding whether or not to
upgrade external systems, internal systems
or both.
BACKGROUND: The financial services industry as a
community is entrenched in improving
interoperability through the understanding
and implementation of various financial
protocols. Now that these protocols (FIX,
FIXML, FpML, SWIFT's ISO 15022) have
developed and are being implemented,
industry participants are debating the
possibility of a convergence of standards.
Overcoming technical challenges and
developing business models to complement
technological strategies remain key
elements of concern. Industry groups are
working to maximize the potential of XML
and these developing protocols. As the
industry tries to reach a consensus and
achieve interoperability, more attention
will focus on the technical implementation
of these protocols and their potential to
accelerate Straight Through Processing.
