What:           As the new biography The Man Who Made Wall Street:
                Anthony J. Drexel and the Rise of Modern Finance hits
                the shelves of bookstores across the country, author
                Dan Rottenberg will deliver the keynote address at
                this year's convocation at the university Anthony J.
                Drexel founded in 1891.

                  President Constantine Papadakis will lead the
                assemblage in a rendition of "God Bless America"
                during the proceedings. Following convocation,
                Papadakis will host a reception -- against the
                backdrop of a three-story 1,200-square-foot
                American flag -- in the Great Court of the Main
                Building.

                  The formal celebration of the new academic year,
                convocation is also an opportunity to recognize
                faculty achievement and student leadership.

When:           Wednesday, November 7, 2001, from 11 a.m. - Noon.

Where:          Drexel's Main Building Auditorium (32nd & Chestnut
                streets).

Background:     One of the 19th century's most influential financiers,
                Anthony J. Drexel was banking giant in Philadelphia,
                New York, London and Paris. A native Philadelphian, he
                laid the groundwork that made Wall Street the world's
                financial center.

                  Philadelphia writer and journalist Dan Rottenberg has
                authored seven books and written for The Philadelphia
                Inquirer, The Wall Street Journal, Town & Country,
                Forbes and others.
