After the recent release of her solo debut, Story of Your Bones, Jennifer Nettles will showcase at the Mercury Lounge in New York on July 26th. Reared on a diet of rock, blues, folk and soul, Jennifer explodes on the scene with a new mature sound. With a vast emotional spectrum, Jennifer's booming voice ranges from bitter anguish to in-your-face naughtiness. The marriage between her high-energy live performances and her bone chilling voice has garnered Jennifer both national and regional success. Story of Your Bones was ranked among the top ten sellers at Atlanta's Tower Records during the first month after it was released, and sold more than 1000 copies in the first 48 hours. Performing at signature venues, colleges, and festivals in the Southeast, Jennifer was also awarded a slot on the 1999 Lilith Fair Lilith Fair was a concert tour and traveling music festival, founded by musician Sarah McLachlan, that consisted solely of female solo artists and female-led bands; it ran from 1997 to 1999.  Tour, which increased her already growing national fan base.

Since Story's release, Jennifer has been receiving rave reviews for her work, and the word is spreading like wildfire about Atlanta's vocal vixen vixen

female fox.
. "I've always been a sucker for an artist whose voice can give me goosebumps...especially a woman," praises Album Network. "Nettles wails and wraps her considerable talents around a variety of vocal showcases. Sassy, with an often over-the-top delivery and gravity-defying range, Nettles feels compelled to please at every turn," says Atlanta's Creative Loafing. Columbia Free Times boasts, "Backed by a band that includes drummer Brad Sikes Sikes can refer to: People
  • Bill Sikes, a fictional character from the novel, Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickens
  • Cynthia Sikes, actress
  • Dan Sikes, golfer
  • Stuart Sikes, recording engineer
Places
  • Sikes, Louisiana
, pianist Scott Nicholson, bassist Wesley Luphold and percussionist Mike Cebulski, Story of Your Bones also moves through funky, jam-esque territory, piano-packed ballads and rustic acoustic numbers. The one constant is Nettles' deep, full-throttle voice, which sounds like it could easily fill a mid-sized hall without the benefit of a microphone."
