--(BUSINESS WIRE)

WHO: Walter McIntyre, 1999 creator of the innovative
"Triangular Adoption" Program and past mayor of the City
of Indian Wells, will be on hand for the arrival of the
U.S.S. Bonhomme Richard, returning home from the Gulf
for the first time since the end of the war in Iraq.

WHAT & WHY: McIntyre spearheaded the program on behalf of the City
of Indian Wells to "adopt" the U.S.S. Bonhomme. Ship
personnel, in turn, adopted the Gerald R. Ford
Elementary School, visiting the school and mentoring
kids in math, history, geography, social studies, and
the arts. The third tip of the triangle is the city's
recognition of three "Outstanding Sailors of the
              Quarter."

Sailors also maintain a "War Briefings" Chronicle that
sends updates to the kids on the whereabouts of the
              ship, descriptions/explanations of aircraft and
equipment, and quizzes from which kids learn. E.g.
Question: What does the Coachella Valley desert have in
common with Iraq? Answer: They are both located on the
              same latitude.

The newest part of the program, "adopt-a-mom," has kids
filling baskets with baby clothes and accessories, and
sending them to expectant San Diego wives of Bonhomme
              personnel.

WHEN & WHERE: Saturday, July 26, 2003, San Diego.

DETAILS: For information, call Walter McIntyre, 760-408-0827
