July 29th-August 30th
Dean Vella was born in Broken Hill and now resides in North Queensland, Australia. Dean's unique technique and use of bright bold color mixed with Australia's beauty has made him an innovative and refreshing creator. Artist statement about his works... "The paintings are more than visual, optical effects. There is a fourth dimension, the subconscious."
Through Dean's working within the Australian environment, it has made him extremely conscious of color. The bright colors are the result of his observations of nature, true to life.
He taught himself how to use texture with perspective to achieve depth. Dean has an advanced knowledge of chemistry and science, which brought him to experiment with paint to enhance the effect of light to show depth within a work. Through the manipulation of light, he creates illusions within the mind: the subconscious. The connection between the viewer and the painted image is one of high emotional perception.
The subjects Dean selects are almost always inspired from everyday life. All subjects relate to his "Hidden Messages." When he paints, he tries to capture the feel of his subject, rather than the image with abstract to semi-abstract techniques in vibrant, thick acrylics. Quoting Dean, "The paintings speak for themselves. Accept them for what they are -- artworks."
Dean's previous exhibits that have been complete sellouts include many in Sydney, Australia and most recently in New York. Dean is nationally and internationally collected throughout private and corporate collections in Malaysia, Japan, U.S.A., Canada, China, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Sweden, Germany, France, Hong Kong, Austria, South Africa and Singapore.
