ADVANCED NMR AND GE MEDICAL SYSTEMS ANNOUNCE LONG TERM AGREEMENT

WILMINGTON, Mass., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced NMR Systems (NASDAQ: ANMR & ANMRW) and General Electric Medical Systems (GEMS) today jointly announced a long term exclusive arrangement for GE to market and use Advanced NMR's InstaScan technology in its MRI product line. Under the agreement, GE will utilize components of ANMR's technology in future GE Signa systems upon satisfaction of conditions to be established.
Under the agreement, GEMS has guaranteed the purchase of 100 ANMR InstaScan systems by Dec. 31, 1994, with delivery by Dec. 31, 1995. GEMS may fulfill its obligation by purchasing equivalent dollar value of other ANMR products and services. It also provides that GE can extend exclusivity of the ANMR technology by exercising an option on or before June 15, 1994, which provides for guaranteed additional revenues to ANMR in 1995.
GEMS and ANMR have agreed to collaborate on two new MRI projects. GEM will use ANMR as its exclusive manufacturer of certain parts and components subject to satisfying agreed upon specifications.
Jack Nelson, chairman of the board of ANMR - "This new agreement is a major step in the commercialization of the company's products and an expansion into new development through a continued strategic alliance with GEMS."
Paul Mirabella, general manager, Global GE MR - "I am very pleased and excited that both companies were able to establish a long term and mutually beneficial foundation. This alliance will allow us to extend our clinically-relevant leadership into areas that will enhance the delivery of cost-effective solutions and customer productivity, while accelerating our speed to market."
