ADVANCED GRAVIS ANNOUNCES NEW SOUND PRODUCTS AT COMDEX AND RECORD MONTHLY REVENUES

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Gravis today announced several new products for its Gravis UltraSound wave table PC sound card along with products from numerous third-party developers.
Adding to UltraSound's compatibility with current industry standards which include Windows, Sound Blaster, MPC and General Midi, is a new sound driver that provides emulation of Roland sound cards on the IBM PC platform. For games and applications that do not yet support the Gravis UltraSound directly, the driver allows Roland music emulation which results in high-quality MIDI music, unlike that from the FM synthesis based products such as Sound Blaster.
Another new product being introduced is Patch Maker Lite that allows users to record and use digital samples to create instruments or "patches." The Windows-based software product gives unlimited artistic freedom to create and modify any sound or instrument. The patches can then be dynamically loaded in and out of UltraSound's onboard RAM, a feature that is not available with any ROM based music synthesizers.
As an indication of the growing industry support for the Gravis UltraSound PC sound card platform, new entertainment products from seven leading third-party software developers will be shown. Each title takes advantage of UltraSound's wave table synthesis and CD-quality digital sound. The following companies: DMA Designs and Psygnosis; LucasFilm Games; Blue Ribbon Soundworks Ltd.; Knowledge Adventure; Maxis; Sierra On-Line; and Strategic Simulations Inc. One of these new titles, "Hired Guns," is also the first commercially available entertainment software supporting Gravis' 3D Holographic Sound. "Hired Guns" from DMA Designs and Psygnosis will immerse the player in the middle of a virtual audio environment, and is a step forward in game design on the IBM PC.
The introduction of these new titles adds to the growing list of software that directly supports Gravis UltraSound, and reflects its strengthening momentum. Sales of UltraSound in October were the highest of any month so far in Gravis' fiscal year. This continued strength and strong growth in the company's core joystick products resulted in monthly revenues in excess of $3 million for October, a record for the company.
Advanced Gravis is a leading designer and manufacturer of high- quality entertainment devices for personal computers, including joysticks, PC GamePads, MouseSticks and UltraSound.
