ADVANCE/Gray Line starts new sightseeing tour schedule for Philadelphia historic/cultural landmarks.


(ADVANCE) PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 1995--New sightseeing tours for many cultural and historic sites in and around Philadelphia and tours of Philadelphia and Bucks County, Pa. were announced at a reception on March 15, 1995 in the South Concourse of Amtrak's 30th Street Station, Philadelphia, by Gray Line Tours of Philadelphia.

Mayor Edward G. Rendell of Philadelphia headed the list of guests at the inaugural event, which ushered in daily, year-round visits to Philadelphia-area sites of interest.

Gray Line of Philadelphia picks up tourists from 12 city hotels and takes them to 30th Street Station, from which all tours depart. The tour organization also announced one and two-night hotel packages which will include one or more of the tours.

Tours offered by Gray Line and announced at the opening event include: Philadelphia City Tour, two three-hour daytime sightseeing programs; Philadelphia By Night, also three hours; Cultural Philadelphia, visiting Historic RittenhouseTown, the site of America's first paper mill, and the Philadelphia Art Museum; Valley Forge and Mill Grove Mill Grove is a historic house in Audubon, Pennsylvania on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the first home in America of painter John James Audubon for which the community is named. It is maintained as a museum and wildlife sanctuary by Montgomery County. , the home of John James

John James (c 1673- 15 May 1746) was an architect particularly associated with Twickenham in west London, where he rebuilt St. Mary's Church and built the house for Hon.
 Audubon, a wildlife and bird sanctuary; and Historic and Cultural Bucks County, a nine-hour tour offered May through October.

There is also a combination tour of two of the basic tours.

Gray Line of Philadelphia scheduled the start of its tour service in and around Philadelphia for Thursday, March 16.
