McCann as Chief Sales & Marketing Officer and the funding of a strategic investment in OptXCon Inc. Brian P. McCann will be appointed as Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, and will assume responsibility for global sales, marketing and product marketing efforts. Brian P. McCann was formerly President of ADVA Optical Networking Inc., USA, and responsible for all sales and marketing activities in the North American market since 1996. Brian L. Protiva will retain his title of Chief Strategy Officer and be responsible for strategy and research and development. Andreas G. Rutsch will retain his title of Chief Financial Officer and responsibilities for corporate finance/M&A, investor relations, personnel and legal affairs. ADVA also announced a strategic investment in OptXCon, Inc., a U.S.-based start-up focusing on optical cross-connect A network device used by telecom carriers to switch high-speed optical signals (OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, etc.). It differs from a digital cross-connect in that it deals with multiple high-speed signals that are switched in their entirety and not multiplexed together. Also known as "OXCs," optical cross-connects work entirely at the optical layer and may be able to operate without having to convert to electrical and back again.
