; BOV: TEPR4), Brasilia, Brazil, the third largest telecommunications company in Brazil, has provided a Storage Networking solution to the Brazilian Central Bank (the Brazilian institution corresponding to the Federal Reserve). This solution connects the Bank's two data centers with optical fibers, allowing the Bank's information to be stored in one data center in case some damage is caused to the other center.

This Storage Networking solution is the first big-sized project to be used in Brazil. The technology, DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing See WDM. ), is provided by Adva Opticals, a global provider of optical networking solutions based in Germany, which is the European market leader. Adva Opticals is starting activities in Brazil through a partnership with Brasil Telecom S.A.

Storage Networking Solution is critical to any company that maintains a database of sensitive proprietary information of the company.

Brasil Telecom S.A. provides local, intra-regional long distance, network, data communication and other value-added services to the states of Acre, Rondonia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul Mato Grosso do Sul (pron. IPA: ['ma.tu 'gɾo.su du suw] [1]) is one of the states of Brazil. Neighbouring states are (from north clockwise) Mato Grosso, Goiás, Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Paraná. , Tocantins, Goias, Santa Catarina, Parana, and Rio Grande do Sul Rio Grande do Sul (rē` grän`dĭ th s , as well as the Federal District. This operating area covers 33% of the nation's territory, 23% of the population (approximately 40 million people), and 25% of the Brazilian GDP GDP (guanosine diphosphate): see guanine.  (approximately R$209 billion.)
