ADTRAN To Provide Sprint With Total Reach Digital Data Services System; ADTRAN Technology Allows Sprint to Deploy DDS/Frame Relay Faster and Farther While Saving Copper Pairs.

(Nasdaq:ADTN), the market leader in DDS/Frame Relay equipment, announced today that the Sprint Local Telecommunications Division (LTD) has selected the ADTRAN Total Reach(R) Digital Data Services (DDS) system as a Sprint National Standard throughout its service territory.

ADTRAN's Total Reach(R) DDS system reduces the copper required to deploy DDS/Frame Relay services from two pairs to one, significantly reducing the deployment cost of the service. In addition, Total Reach DDS eliminates the need for repeaters (signal regenerators) in the delivery of services to extended distances. With Total Reach technology, DDS/Frame Relay service can span up to 50,000 feet from the central office without expensive repeaters. Previously, repeaters were required to deliver DDS to distances beyond 18,000 feet.
