ADTRAN(R), Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTN), a leading provider of network access solutions, today announced the release of the second generation NetVanta(R) 2000 Series of Firewall/VPN devices. This second-generation product family now incorporates the ADTRAN Operating System (OS) and lowers the entry-level price point by up to 60 percent over previous models. In addition, ADTRAN is also expanding the product line with the release of the NetVanta 2054, a Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) Firewall/VPN appliance that features an integrated four-port Ethernet switch for multiple PC connections.

The addition of the ADTRAN OS brings enhanced management functionality and ease of configuration to the NetVanta 2000 Series. A user-friendly, web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) featuring step-by-step wizards simplifies firewall and VPN configuration and reduces the time required for advanced applications. The ADTRAN OS allows for unit configuration using a familiar Command Line Interface (CLI) and supports ADTRAN's N-Form(R) network management system, which allows for centralized remote configuration, simultaneous firmware upgrades of multiple devices, and configuration backup and restoral. ADTRAN VPN products are IPSec standards-based, making them compatible with other standards-based products. In addition, all ADTRAN internetworking products are ADTRAN OS-based, ensuring customers the highest level of interoperability between the various models.

The NetVanta 2054 expands the NetVanta 2000 Series product line by offering work-at-home or branch office users a low-cost, remote access single-platform security solution, allowing secure corporate connectivity with the added benefit of a four-port 10/100Base-T Ethernet switch. This built-in switch can be used for connecting and securing multiple PCs, IP phones, or other network devices. The NetVanta 2054 offers key security and data protection features such as IPSec VPN tunneling using DES, 3DES, and AES encryption; a stateful inspection firewall; an integral IP router; and Network Address Translation (NAT) for concealing private addresses over public infrastructures like the Internet. For the telecommuter that needs a dedicated firewall without corporate VPN access, the NetVanta 2054 is also available in a firewall-only version. Firewall-only versions of the NetVanta 2054 can be upgraded at a later date to support VPN with the purchase of the ADTRAN OS VPN Upgrade.
