ADTRAN Introduces Wireless T1 Communication Device Featuring Improved Management Capability and Smaller Footprint.Business Editors & Technology Writers HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2001 TRACER(R) 4103 Combines Baseband Processing and Radio Frequency Conversion into a Single, Compact Chassis ADTRAN(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:ADTN ADTN Administrative Data Transmission Network ADTN Administrative Data Telecommunications Network ) today announced the latest member of the TRACER family of broadband wireless products, the TRACER 4103. The 4103 introduces new management capability and a reduced footprint. It is a competitively priced, license-free digital microwave radio that combines baseband processing and radio frequency conversion in a one unit high rackmount chassis, which is half the size of previous models. The TRACER 4103 will operate in the 2.4 GHz to 2.4835 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band, as authorized under part 15.247 of the FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S. rules. "The TRACER 4103 brings our customers the opportunity to have all the functionality of TRACER in a space-saving cost-effective device," said Dan Pritchett, ADTRAN director of Wireless Products Sales. "In addition to the size advantage, new management capability has been added to remotely control back-to-back devices via standard VT100 emulation. This will minimize truck roll requirements allowing our customers to save time and money in provisioning and servicing situations." TRACER is a license-free digital microwave radio that uses spread-spectrum technology to provide two independent T1 communication links of up to 30 miles. Three other Dual T1 or E1 TRACER radios are presently available: 2.4 GHz (20 dBm), 2.4 GHz (30 dBm), and 5.8 GHz (20 dBm). The TRACER family includes the industry's first NEBS Level 3 compliant spread-spectrum radio that meets the strict requirements for performance, quality, and safety required by the Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs) for equipment installed in their Central Offices. Many TRACER models are available in both mastmounted or rackmounted configurations. Wireless IP routing capability is also available through the TRACER 2631, which allows carrier and enterprise customers to extend LANs to previously unreachable locations. The TRACER 4103 has a list price of $5,695 and will be available in July.
