of single users and large businesses

), a leading provider of internetworking security solutions, today announced the newest members of the NetVanta 2000 Series of Virtual Private Networking (VPN (Virtual Private Network) A private network that is configured within a public network (a carrier's network or the Internet) in order to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks. )/Security solutions, the NetVanta 2050 and NetVanta 2400. The introduction of these two new products further expands ADTRAN's VPN/Security offering with cost-effective hardware and software solutions for customers ranging from mobile workers to large businesses.

The NetVanta 2050 is a VPN/Firewall appliance designed for the work-at-home telecommuter or a small office supporting up to 15 users and up to 5 IPSec VPN tunnels. The NetVanta 2400 is an IPSec compliant gateway designed for large corporate needs with support for 1,000 secure tunnels. Both products are easy to use and feature standard NetVanta 2000 Series features such as stateful inspection firewall, Network Address Translation (NAT (Network Address Translation) An IETF standard that allows an organization to present itself to the Internet with far fewer IP addresses than there are nodes on its internal network. ), and integral routing. In addition, the NetVanta 2400 offers a DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone) A middle ground between an organization's trusted internal network and an untrusted, external network such as the Internet. Also called a "perimeter network," the DMZ is a subnetwork (subnet) that may sit between firewalls or off one leg of a  port for public server access, hardware encryption accelerators for faster throughput, and front panel controls and LEDs for easy configuration and monitoring.

The NetVanta 2050 has a list price of $495 while the NetVanta 2400 is priced at $5,895. Both products are currently available.
