"ADTRAN's Total Reach SDSL has overcome the interference, power and distance limitations of today's asymmetric services," said Tom Stanton, Vice President and General Manager of the ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. "Using products incorporating Total Reach SDSL, carriers can immediately offer higher speed services that don't interfere with existing services bundled in the same loop."

This new technology allows carriers to cost effectively deploy varying rates of high bandwidth DSL services, ranging from 144 kbps up to 1 Mbps, to customers at extended distances without repeaters. Prior to this introduction, service providers could not uniformly deploy high-speed data services because of the distance limitations and interference problems found in currently deployed technologies.

Already, ADTRAN has begun incorporating TR SDSL into its Frame Access line of products. When work-at-home individuals need high-speed access to large databases, computer programs, Internet, corporate intranet and e-mail, the Frame Access product line offers the central office and remote site equipment necessary for high-bandwidth networking.

"The Frame Access family of products integrates concentration technology with the latest loop technology to greatly increase deployment efficiencies and reduce deployment costs," Stanton said. "With ADTRAN's new Total Reach SDSL incorporated into the product line, the industry is now supplied with a viable solution for high-speed remote networking."

The ADTRAN Frame Access product line has already been deployed by several Competitive Local Exchange Carriers and Internet Service Providers Internet service provider (ISP)

, and is being utilized in work-at-home application trials being held by two major incumbent carriers. Today's announcement was made at the Supercomm trade show this week in Atlanta, Georgia.
