ADTRAN Introduces Intelligently Redundant Multiplexer that Eliminates Network Downtime; MX2800 Offers Industry's Lowest Price, Smallest Footprint for M13 Multiplexing.

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1999--

) introduced today its new MX2800, an M13 multiplexer providing intelligent redundancy and T3 bandwidth consolidation for the ultimate in efficient networking. Entering the market at the lowest price and with the smallest footprint in the industry, the MX2800 provides a unique 1:1 protection system that eliminates network disruption for equipment repair.

"In the event of a communications failure, the MX2800's intelligent redundancy determines the source of the failure, decides on the necessity of switching to the secondary solution, and allows questionable elements to be swapped without disrupting the network," said Tim Saunders, Director of Product Management for the ADTRAN Enterprise Networks Division. "This level of intelligence and redundancy saves unnecessary equipment costs and intolerable downtime."

Meeting the most stringent Carrier Class standards (including NEBS Level 3), the MX2800 also promises unmatched efficiencies for Competitive Local Exchange Carriers, Interexchange Carriers, Local Exchange Carriers and Internet Service Providers Internet service provider (ISP)

who need a powerful tool for consolidating services to maximize their copper investment.

"Competitive carriers must make the most of their physical infrastructure to remain competitive," Saunders said. "Space is everything. With the MX2800, we've engineered another feature-rich, powerful, and ultra-compact platform to make service termination as efficient as possible, physically and operationally."

See rack mounted.  high in 19-inch or 23-inch rackmount configurations, this modular device consolidates 28 T1 signals or 21 E1 signals into a T3 circuit. The MX2800 houses two hot-swappable controller cards that are capable of combining independent T1s, E1s, or T1s and E1s on the same DS3 circuit. A fully connectorized backplane means no wire wrapping and quick and easy installation. As with all ADTRAN products, the MX2800 also offers comprehensive management options.

Pricing and Availability

The MX2800 will be available in product quantities in October 1999 for a list price of $5,995 for a fully redundant DC version.
