ADTRAN Further Redefines Price Points in Access Router Market; NetVanta 3305 Expands Access Router Family with VPN and Dual T1 Solution.Business Editors/High-Tech Writers COMNET 2003 Booth #416 HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 28, 2003 ADTRAN(TM), Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN) today announced the newest member of the NetVanta 3000 Series of access routers, the NetVanta 3305. All members of the NetVanta 3000 Series include a stateful inspection A firewall technology that ensures that all inbound packets are the result of an outbound request. For example, if you click on a link to a Web page, you are making an HTTP request to a specific URL. All packets coming from that URL would pass the stateful inspection and be accepted. Every so many minutes, your e-mail program queries the mail server, and returning packets from that server are allowed. firewall, built-in DSU/CSU, and a familiar Command Line Interface (operating system) command line interface - A means of communication between a program and its user, based solely on textual input and output. Commands are input with the help of a keyboard or similar device and are interpreted and executed by the program. Results are output as text or graphics to the terminal. Command line interfaces usually provide greater flexibility than graphical user interfaces, at the cost of being harder for the novice to use. (CLI). New features of the NetVanta 3305 include IPSec VPN with 3DES and AES encryption, two network interface slots for higher bandwidth needs ranging from 56K to dual T1s, and dual auto-sensing 10/100BaseT Ethernet LAN ports for DMZ applications or true LAN segmentation. The NetVanta 3305 is perfect for solutions requiring simultaneous corporate Frame Relay connectivity and secure Internet access from a single platform. "The addition of the NetVanta 3305 positions ADTRAN to supply access routers for virtually every business application," said Danny Windham, senior vice president and general manager, ADTRAN Enterprise Networks Division. "IT managers seeking to stretch their budgets, now have a compelling alternative for access routing at half the traditional cost." The NetVanta 3305 is a multi-slot access router that allows for future expansion and network growth. Users may choose from a variety of interchangeable NetVanta 3000 Series Network Interface Modules (NIMs) for 56/64K, T1/FT1 FT1 - Fire Control Technician First Class (Naval Rating) FT1 - Fractional T-1 Carrier, T1/FT1 with DSX DSX - Data Service Cross-connect DSX - Digital Cross Connect DSX - Digital Signal Cross-Connect-1 for dropping off voice to a PBX, or a serial interface. Optional Dial Backup Interface Modules (DIMs) prevent network downtime using either ISDN BRI or analog modem technology to dial around a failed primary circuit, protecting mission critical applications. The analog modem can also be used for remote dial-in and configuration. All NIMs and DIMs are field upgradable and can be accessed remotely, eliminating the need for additional on-site technical expertise. Based on the ADTRAN Operating System (OS), the NetVanta 3305 offers a standard feature set which includes a stateful inspection firewall to prevent Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, NAT/NAPT NAPT - National Association for Poetry Therapy NAPT - National Association for Prevention of Tuberculosis of Great Britain NAPT - National Association for Proton Therapy NAPT - National Association for Pupil Transportation NAPT - National Association of Plumbing Teachers NAPT - Native American Public Telecommunications NAPT - Network Address Port Translation NAPT - New Asia Professional Timer for IP address concealment and conservation, and DHCP server and client for automatic and flexible IP address assignment. The ADTRAN OS makes quick and responsive IP routing decisions, by supporting static and default routes and multiple routing protocols such as OSPF and RIP, and multiple WAN protocols like Frame Relay and PPP. These features are all managed with a familiar Command Line Interface (CLI) reducing the need for retraining and requiring no costly industry certification. In addition to ADTRAN's domestic five-year warranty and technical support, free maintenance releases are available for remote software updates via the ADTRAN website (www.adtran.com). For added value, ADTRAN Custom Extended Service (ACES) programs are also available offering regular product upgrades, guaranteed response times from four-hours to next business day, on-site and remote installation services, maintenance support, and depot sparing. The NetVanta 3305 is available in a 1U-rackmount chassis at a list price of $1,295. Units pre-configured with a T1/FT1 NIM list for $1,595 or pre-configured with a T1/FT1 w/DSX-1 DSX-1 - Digital Signal Cross Connect - Level 1 NIM list for $1,745. Available in February, the NetVanta 3305 joins the single-slot NetVanta 3200 and 3205 branch office access routers. The NetVanta 3200 is the desktop chassis with a list price of $695. The NetVanta 3205 is the 1U-rackmount chassis and is available at a list price of $795.
