deployment equipment, and TollBridge Technologies, the leading developer of high-quality, voice-over-broadband solutions for broadband carriers, today announced that ADTRAN's Total Access(TM) product line of Integrated Access Devices (IAD (Integrated Access Device) A device that multiplexes a variety of communications technologies in the customer's premises onto a single telephone line for transmission to the carrier. It also demultiplexes the incoming streams into their respective channels. ) has successfully completed rigorous certification testing requirements with the TollBridge TB200(TM) voice gateway. Completion of these tests means that telecommunications service providers, such as CLECs, ILECs, and ISPs, can now provide integrated voice and data services and achieve the highest levels of voice quality while maintaining the integrity of existing network infrastructure.

Certification of ADTRAN's Total Access IADs with the TollBridge TB200 broadband voice gateway enables small and medium sized businesses to deploy VoT1 and VoDSL solutions with the assurance that toll-quality voice levels will be met. TollBridge's testing procedures included TR-57 Compliance, Bulk Call Generation, and Voice and Data Quality of Service (QoS). The ADTRAN Total Access product line has TR-57-compliant analog voice interfaces that assure toll-quality voice over IP networks. QoS parameters guarantee the priority of voice calls without any degradation of voice quality on converged voice and data circuits.

"The Total Access IADs allow customers using the TollBridge TB200 broadband voice gateway to establish cost-effective, converged voice and data connections over T1 or DSL," said Danny Windham, vice president and general manager, ADTRAN Enterprise Networks Division. "Completion of TollBridge's rigorous certification testing requirements is another step in our aggressive approach to provide service providers with the highest levels of functionality when deploying their next generation networks, while offering compelling cost savings."

"Service providers need to be assured that they can deploy reliable solutions prior to deployment in revenue-generating networks, and TollBridge has made a substantial commitment to provide that assurance to its customers," said Agnes Imregh, vice president for marketing for TollBridge. ADTRAN's unending success in providing functional, cost-effective and non-compromising DSL solutions brings added advantages to our customers. We are pleased to have ADTRAN as a partner in our efforts to deliver high-quality, Carrier Class VoDSL services."

ADTRAN's Total Access 850 IAD integrates industry-leading loop technologies into a high-density, scalable platform. This carrier-class device is a member of the Total Access system of distributed access components and offers an attractive migration path from all voice to a combination of voice and data, including VoT1 and VoDSL. ADTRAN engineered the Total Access 850 for the Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) with unparalleled flexibility, service options and management capabilities.

The Total Access 850 supports TR-57 compliant analog FXS (Foreign eXchange Station) The interface provided by the telephone company to its customers, which includes dial tone, power and ring voltage. The telephone jack on the wall is an FXS interface.  interfaces with ATM over T1 and SDSL See DSL.

Other key features include IP routing supporting ATM, Frame Relay and PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) The most popular method for transporting IP packets over a serial link between the user and the ISP. Developed in 1994 by the IETF and superseding the SLIP protocol, PPP establishes the session between the user's computer and the ISP using , as well as a built-in V.35 interface.

The TollBridge TB200 broadband voice gateway is a carrier-grade Local Exchange Gateway that translates packets back into voice and connects to Class 5 switches using the Bellcore GR-303 protocol and new emerging protocols such as SIP and MGCP See MGCP/MEGACO.
