In chemistry the ideal tracer has the same chemical properties as the molecule it replaces and undergoes the same reactions but can at all times be detectible  Digital Spread Spectrum Radio, providing license-free deployment of T1 service to rural areas not equipped with copper deployment options. The product, representing ADTRAN's entry into the wireless market, was introduced today at the SUPERCOMM trade show in Dallas, Texas “Dallas” redirects here. TRACER provides cellular service providers and local telephone companies an opportunity to cost effectively expand their coverage areas with wireless links. The system is also an innovative option for point-to-point, high-speed connections for voice, video and data transfer applications in campus environments without leasing additional phone lines.

Utilizing military-proven spread-spectrum technology, TRACER supports rates up to two T1 or one E1 for high-speed wireless connections to distances up to 23 miles.

"Cellular service providers and telephone companies will find that TRACER offers a cost effective means of providing phone service to customers located in rural areas, while entities such as utility and construction companies can employ wireless phone service and high speed networking activities without requiring an FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S.  license," ADTRAN Sales Manager Everett Brooks said.

TRACER consists of a Baseband Processor and a Radio Frequency Converter which can be rack mounted or mast mounted. The TRACER offers equipment redundancies for critical applications.

"With monitored hot standby, the TRACER system provides the reliability required by high-traffic, mission-critical links," Brooks said.

The TRACER System pricing starts at $9995 for a complete 2xT1 or 1xE1 system and shipments will begin in third quarter of `96.

ADTRAN was established in 1985 to design, develop and manufacture advanced transmission products for high-speed digital communications. In addition to its TRACER product, ADTRAN is a primary provider of DDS (1) (Digital Data Storage) See DAT.
