) today unveiled the latest member of its TRACER family of fixed wireless products, the TRACER(R) 2210 data radio system. The TRACER 2210 is a compact, point-to-point, V.35 Data Interface Unit (DIU Diu, India: see Daman and Diu. ) that provides triple the bandwidth of competing products with incremental speeds from 64 Kbps to 1.536 Mbps. The TRACER 2210 system includes the 3202 Radio Interface Unit (RIU RIU Regulatory Impact Unit (United Kingdom)

) and provides connectivity between the end users Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) for applications such as LAN-to-LAN bridging, routing, or videoconferencing.

The TRACER 2210 system allows enterprise users, service providers, and utilities to establish a high-speed connection to remote locations where wireline access is not available or in markets where communications infrastructure is underdeveloped. This data system is a compact, highly scalable solution that enables rapid wireless deployment of the equivalent of a full T1 of bandwidth for data connectivity. This system's cost-effective twisted-pair design enables customers to locate the radio at the antenna to maximize signal efficiency, while eliminating the need for expensive coax between the DIU and RIU.

"As the market leader in data connectivity solutions, ADTRAN developed the TRACER 2210 to provide its customers with additional functionality to meet their growing bandwidth needs," said Dan Pritchett, ADTRAN director of wireless products. "The TRACER 2210 supports links up to 30 miles in the 5.8 GHz spectrum band. It provides customers with the scalability to meet a variety of bandwidth requirements to grow their networks as network requirements change."

The TRACER Series includes various spread spectrum radio models that provide connectivity for T1, E1, and IP routing in addition to the industry's first NEBS Level 3 compliant license free radio. The TRACER 2210 (including the 3202 radio unit) has a list price of $4,795 and is currently shipping.
