ADS awarded state engineering contract.

ADS has been awarded a term contract to conduct engineering studies for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to reduce electric energy consumption in buildings.

ADS will be participating in NYSERDAs' new initiative, New Construction Financial Incentives PON 815, to provide both financial and technical assistance to candidates to improve the energy efficiency of both new and substantially renovated construction projects. This program aims to encourage candidates to install energy efficient equipment and to construct buildings that exceed the energy efficiency of standard design practices, and the energy conservation code, by offering a financial incentive and technical support to do so.

NYSERDA has made $10 Million available, and has offered to offset up to 60% of the incremental capital costs associated with the purchase and installation of energy efficient equipment as well as promoting sustainable design. ADS will-be brought in as an expert to assess potential energy saving measures and methods to reduce peak demand electric loads. It will also analyze the integration of integrated photovoltaic, solar and daylighting technologies and use energy modeling to compare the savings against standard design practice strategies. There are added incentives to promote buildings that demonstrate sustainable design by being certified by the United States Green Building Council's LEED rating system.

Both new buildings and portions within new buildings are eligible for these technical assessments and financial incentives, as are substan tial renovations. Candidates may be eligible for up to $5,000 of technical assistance provided by consultants such as ADS at no cost. For those candidates who have a greater technical assistance need, NYSERDA will cost-share 50% of the assistance, up to a maximum of $100,000.
