QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 12, 1996--ADS INC inc - /ink/ increment, i.e. increase by one. Especially used by assembly programmers, as many assembly languages have an "inc" mnemonic.

The Company completed acquisition of a further 40 percent equity position in its subsidiary Beauce Composites Inc. and a further 60 percent interest in Pultrall Inc. The Company also sold its main construction engineering assets and is currently negotiating for the purchase of Marquez Transtech Ltd., a Montreal company active in the manufacture and distribution of thermoformed plastic parts.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Paul Drouin expressed his satisfaction that management can now devote its full energies to achieving enhanced growth and productivity in the Company's manufacturing operations Manufacturing operations concern the operation of a facility, as opposed to maintenance, supply and distribution, health, and safety, emergency response, human resources, security, information technology and other infrastructural support organizations. . "Quality, productivity and quality acquisitions are our new goals," he declared. In light of third quarter results, Drouin also noted that the Company was maintaining its rate of growth.

By third quarter end, Company sales had increased by nearly 30 percent compared to the same period the previous fiscal year, rising from $50.6 million to $65.5 million. These amounts, it should be noted, have been adjusted to exclude engineering construction operations, which were ceded to Soprin last September 1.

It should be mentioned that new production line startup at the Thetford Mines plant caused certain delays and, combined with changes to production schedules, negatively impacted Company profits during the third quarter. Fourth quarter results should show significant improvements as a result of recent acquisitions and an anticipated boost in productivity at the new plants.
