ADP Signs $17 Million Contract for Xerox Equipment, Services; DocuPrint Upgrades to Help ADP Print Paychecks Faster.

(R)) payroll locations across the United States. The technology improvements are expected to increase ADP's ability to process and print payroll checks for the more than 29 million wage earners it serves worldwide each payday.

Under the seven-year, $17 million contract, Xerox will provide service and support and upgrade existing Xerox equipment with 110 newer, faster and more cost-effective Xerox DocuPrint 180 MX Laser Printing Systems.

The DocuPrint 180 MX printer, at speeds up to 180 pages per minute, allows ADP to print paychecks up to 30 percent faster than before. The DocuPrint 180 MX uses Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (business, printer) Magnetic Ink Character Recognition - (MICR) A character recognition system using special ink and characters which can be magnetised and read automatically.  (MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) The machine recognition of numeric data printed with magnetically charged ink. It is used on bank checks and deposit slips. MICR readers detect the characters and convert them into digital data. ) technology to create the highest quality checks with a 99.9 percent read rate -- which is measured by the rate of checks printed that can be accurately read by a bank reader/sorter unit.

The DocuPrint 180 MX technology will allow ADP the flexibility to direct payroll data it receives over the Internet to the Xerox printer fleet, via its network, while still processing other payroll through the mainframe, further increasing ADP's efficiency.
