Each year, the United States economy loses more than $13 billion to check fraud, according to statistics compiled by the Bank of America. Today, with easy access to computers, scanners, color copiers and laser printers, duplicating a "basic check" does not require an expert or a major investment.

The Most Secure Paycheck

ADP's Security-Enhanced Paycheck's anti-fraud features include:

-- Thermochromic Ink: A heat-sensitive logo printed in purple ink on

the back of the check verifies authenticity. When the check is

exposed to heat -- like rubbing it with a finger -- the

thermochromic ink fades and then quickly reappears. When

thermochromic ink is used, a counterfeit check can be identified

at the point of the transaction.

-- Artificial Watermark: If the back of the check is held at a

45-degree angle, one can easily see "ADP" printed multiple times

in white ink. The letters cannot be copied, scanned or used to

make a plate because such technology operates at a 90-degree

angle. Therefore, the letters would not be picked up using any of

these methods.

-- High Resolution Borders: Borders with intricate designs using

very high resolutions make duplication extremely difficult and

help differentiate this highly unique check stock. The technology

is similar to printing currency, where intricate lines are used

to create portraits and other elements.

-- Prismatic Printing: Specially designed for ADP, a multi-colored

background makes accurate check reproduction virtually

impossible. Accurate reproduction of the check background would

require access to a sophisticated multi-color printing process.

-- Dual Image Control Number: Using pre-numbered checks, a special

ink bleeds through the check, making it a permanent part of the

paper. Numbers can't be changed, altered or deleted which

protects the integrity of the numbering system.

-- Void Pantograph: Attempts to copy ADP's Security-Enhanced

Paycheck will result in the appearance of multiple "voids" on the

duplicate.
