ADP/SIS Announces Infrastructure Reinvestment Initiatives.

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 1999--ADP Securities Industry Software (ADP/SIS), a division of Automatic Data Processing's (NYSE:AUD) Brokerage Services Group announced today that it has initiated two new strategic infrastructure reinvestment programs that will further enhance overall service levels to its brokerage clients. To improve day-to-day processing, ADP/SIS has just completed the installation of Compaq/Tandem's new S70000 series processors. And, as part of its Business Continuance Services, ADP/SIS has also begun the implementation of its new disaster recovery "hot site" in Boulder Colorado. The S70000s are ADP/SIS's new core systems for daily processing of securities transactions, and are replacing the previously used Himalaya systems. These processors will utilize Compaq's Server Net technology and will provide a new configuration with much more processing capacity and memory. This will substantially improve throughput and processing speed, as well as the internal communications within the ADP/SIS systems. "Using the S7000s has already significantly reduced the time frame of our nighttime batch runs allowing ADP/SIS to get data back to its clients much quicker. This gives clients access to data earlier, and more time to analyze and manipulate that data for internal reporting and downloading to customized proprietary applications. ADP/SIS has also begun the first phase of its new Business Continuance Services (BCS) which includes its new "hot site" in Boulder, Colorado. The hot site will replicate participating clients' databases in real-time, in case of an emergency and will allow for seamless switchovers to occur within minutes, using state-of-the-art replication software offered by Golden Gate Software. Clients will now benefit from expedited recovery times, allowing for continued operations and uninterrupted service. The hot site facility will also include an ADP/SIS-owned Tandem configuration to support production processing of all client participants. This configuration will allow for continuous connectivity, data availability and data integrity testing.
