ADP/BMW Partnership Helps Produce No. 1 Ranking in Dealer Satisfaction Survey.

BMW's new Dealer Communication System (DCS) 2000, jointly developed by BMW of North America, Inc. and ADP(R) Dealer Services, received a number one rating in a recent satisfaction survey by Industrial Marketing Research Inc. of Clarendon Hills, IL. The Parts Policy Monitoring Survey by IMR Research Inc. rated BMW's DCS 2000 as the best DCS in every category measured and also highest in terms of importance to the dealers' business. &uot;I was incredibly pleased by this survey,&uot; said Ken Barile, Manager of Aftersales and Engineering Systems for BMW of North America. &uot;The DCS 2000 project challenged ADP and BMW with having to learn and apply new technology on the fly. BMW's DCS 2000 provides dealers with the ability to order cars, process warranty claims, deliver financial statements and perform many other communications tasks with BMW. When it developed DCS 2000, BMW selected ADP as one of only two strategic partners to assist with deployment of the new system. ADP wrote interfaces from its Elite(TM) dealer management system (DMS) to DCS 2000 and provided dealers with client/server systems, networking equipment, installation and support. A special ADP help desk takes all technical support calls and directs them to the proper party, ADP or BMW, depending on the problem. The satisfaction survey was performed by an independent market survey firm, IMR Research, Inc., Clarendon Hills, Illinois.

DCS 2000 provides BMW dealers with a number of important advantages over the previous DCS. The system communicates with the manufacturer using a Windows NT(TM) server provided by ADP. This means that every person in the dealership with the proper security clearance can access the DCS from the same computer they use to reach the DMS. The computer used to access the DCS can also be used for accessing the DMS and running other Windows applications. The network, which takes advantage of an existing BMW satellite link, provides substantially faster throughput than the old system.
