Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country, - Local school administrators celebrated the best of the best this week, awarding scholarships to four graduating seniors during the year-end meeting of the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672. branch of the Association of California School Administrators. Each student received a scholarship for $500. Winners included Dana Buckley of Academy of the Canyons; Crystal Bissonette, Canyon High; Joshua Eisenberg, Saugus High; and Mackensie Bear, Valencia High. Hart Union High School District Co-administrator at Building Level, Secondary: Mike Kuhlman, assistant principal, Canyon Co-administrator at Building Level, Elementary: Susan Bender, assistant principal, Mountainview Elementary Curriculum Management/Development Award: Jan Bandich, Saugus Union School District The Saugus Union School District is a school district in the Santa Clarita Valley that serves the Saugus, Valencia, and Canyon Country communities within the city of Santa Clarita, California. As of March 25,2006, it has 15 elementary schools. District Support Service Award: Lisa Bloom, Castaic Union School District Outstanding Contribution by a Confidential Employee: Joan Michaelson, Saugus District Outstanding Contribution by a Classified Manager: Annette Uthe, transportation department, Sulphur Springs School District The Sulphur Springs School District is a school district in the Santa Clarita Valley that serves portions of the Canyon Country and Newhall communities within the city of Santa Clarita, California.
