ADIC appoints director of product management to lead marketing efforts for Scalar Series.


REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1995--ADIC today announced the appointment of Jonathan Otis to the position of director of product management, with special responsibility for ADIC's new Scalar Series DLT (Digital Linear Tape) A magnetic tape technology originally developed by Digital for its VAX line. The technology was later sold to Quantum, which makes it available to other manufacturers. DLT uses half-inch, single-hub cartridges similar to IBM's 3480/3490/3590 line.  library for data center applications.

Otis has over 15 years experience in the computer industry in roles that include end-user applications, systems planning, and sales and marketing. He has served in the capacity of MIS director for a major food service provider, and in management, sales and marketing positions for Annmarc Inc. and Micro Computer Co.

Most recently, Otis served as director of marketing for Integrated Mass Storage Systems (IMSS IMSS Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (Spanish: Mexican Social Security Institute)

). IMSS is one of the leading integrators to specialize in providing comprehensive storage solutions for backup, archiving and HSM (1) (Hierarchical Storage Management) The automatic movement of files from hard disk to slower, less-expensive storage media. The typical hierarchy is from magnetic disk to optical disc to tape. . At IMSS, Otis helped the company establish its position as a leading supplier of storage products for a wide range of organizations, including large government and commercial users with enterprise-scale systems that mix PC LAN networks and centralized data center operations.

Introduced this spring, ADIC's Scalar Series is a family of scalable automated tape libraries offering from two to eight DLT tape drives and up to 1.9TB of storage capacity.
