ADIC and Anthem sign distribution agreement.


REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 3, 1996--ADIC and Anthem Electronics have announced a franchise agreement in which Anthem will distribute ADIC's line of automated tape libraries for unattended backup, including ADIC's complete line of DLT (Digital Linear Tape) A magnetic tape technology originally developed by Digital for its VAX line. The technology was later sold to Quantum, which makes it available to other manufacturers. DLT uses half-inch, single-hub cartridges similar to IBM's 3480/3490/3590 line.  storage products.

"ADIC is pleased to be working with Anthem to open a new sales and support channel for high performance tape libraries," according to William Britts, ADIC vice president of sales and marketing. "Our combination will give significant new choices to Anthem subsystem customers, both in traditional system backup and in emerging mass storage applications -- including medical imaging, pre-press operations, broadcast video image storage, satellite data collection and Internet archiving."

With this franchise agreement in place, Anthem is the only industrial distributor authorized to sell ADIC's Scalar series of DLT library products. The Scalar series libraries offer up to 48 cartridge positions for native storage of up to 1.68TB, barcode reader, and a 10-position media exchange "mailbox" for secure media exchange without interrupting operation. All Scalar units also include a full year of on-site service. As well, Anthem will carry ADIC's line of 4mm and 8mm desktop tape storage products.
