ADIC Names Pete Higgins as New Board Member.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 15, 2003

Advanced Digital Information Corporation (Nasdaq:ADIC) today announced that its Board of Directors has named Pete Higgins as a member, filling the vacancy resulting from the resignation of Dr. Richard L. McCormick. Mr. Higgins' term began immediately, and he will stand for election at the upcoming annual shareholders' meeting shareholders' meeting n. a meeting, usually annual, of all shareholders of a corporation (although in large corporations only a small percentage attend) to elect the Board of Directors and hear reports on the company's business situation.  on March 11, 2003.

Mr. Higgins is currently a partner at Second Avenue Partners, a Seattle-based venture capital firm that he co-founded in 2000. In 1999, Mr. Higgins ended his 16-year career with Microsoft Corporation where he was a member of the Office of the President, reporting to CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Bill Gates. He played an instrumental role in the management of the Excel and Office business lines, and was group vice president of the Interactive Media Group from 1996 to 1998. His responsibilities included Microsoft's online and consumer software businesses, including MSN (1) (MicroSoft Network) A family of Internet-based services from Microsoft, which includes a search engine, e-mail (Hotmail), instant messaging (Windows Live Messaging) and a general-purpose portal with news, information and shopping (MSN Directory). , MSNBC MSNBC Microsoft/National Broadcasting Company , Expedia, Carpoint, Slate, Internet Gaming Zone, Encarta, multimedia games, desktop finance products and hardware products such as the Microsoft Mouse.

Higgins serves as a director of several private companies, as well as the Seattle Aquarium. He is also a strategic director in the venture capital group, Madrona Investment Group, L.L.C. Mr. Higgins is a past board member of the Washington Software Association and the Software Publishers Association. He is currently a Trustee of Stanford University where he holds a B.A. and an M.B.A.
