Hyman recently served as world-wide sales manager for Metrum (recently purchased by Lockheed Martin Mountaingate), a early leader in high capacity data storage libraries.

"Barry Hyman brings to the ADIC team a wealth of very specific experience in the mid-range storage market. Both his addition, and the creation of this new position, underscore our commitment to serving the specific needs of this significant market segment," according to William Britts, ADIC sales and marketing vice president.

In all, Hyman brings more than 18 years of sales and marketing experience in the computer, client-server, and communications industry to ADIC. Prior to joining Metrum, he served as vice-president of sales and marketing at DCS (1) See also DSC.

ADIC, which recently released financial results showing 100% quarter-over-quarter revenue growth and record profits, has seen expansion both in its line of desk-top storage products -- offering storage capacity of 50 to 300GB -- and in its newer Scalar DLT (Digital Linear Tape) A magnetic tape technology originally developed by Digital for its VAX line. The technology was later sold to Quantum, which makes it available to other manufacturers. DLT uses half-inch, single-hub cartridges similar to IBM's 3480/3490/3590 line.  library series -- aimed primarily at systems with capacity needs of more than a terabyte (1000 GB). Hyman will be responsible for marketing of the Scalar line.

"ADIC is pleased to have someone with Barry's industry experience to market ADIC's Scalar libraries," says Chuck Stonecipher, ADIC general manager. "With storage capacities of over 3 terabytes, the Scalar series is designed to solve automated data storage for the growing mid-range market served by Windows NT, UNIX UNIX

, and larger Novell systems.

"The Scalar line represents a significant growth opportunity for ADIC -- one that will extend our expertise in tape drive integration and robotics design, as well as our strong service and support organization, to larger markets."
