 star DeLisha Milton-Jones was named interim coach of the Los Angeles Stars Los Angeles Stars is the name of three American Basketball Association (ABA) teams based in Los Angeles, California.

The American Basketball Association (ABA) was a professional basketball league founded in 1967, and eventually merged, in part, with the National Basketball
 on Tuesday, becoming the second woman head coach of a men's professional basketball team.

The Stars, who play their home games at Granada Hills High School Granada Hills Charter High School (Granada Hills High School) is a public, charter, co-educational, secondary school consisting of students in grades 9-12. The school colors are green, black, and white. , hired Milton-Jones last month to be an assistant coach. Her husband, Roland Jones, is a backup point guard with the Stars.

Milton-Jones, 30, will hold the position for only a few weeks. She is scheduled to play in Russia this winter until the WNBA season begins in spring.

``We will have her until a new coach is found,'' Stars chief executive officer Lowell Moore said. ``DeLisha has a terrific understanding of the game and has been making a great impact on the team with her knowledge, wisdom and leadership.''

Ashley McElhiney, the coach of the ABA's Nashville Rhythm, is the only other female coach of a men's pro basketball team. Nashville is 12-3 and in second place in the 12-team Blue Division.

Milton-Jones, 30, was a member of the U.S. women's team that won a gold medal at the 2000 Olympics. She has played six seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks The Los Angeles Sparks are a Women's National Basketball Association team based in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1997, they are one of the 8 original WNBA teams and were one of the teams that participated in the league's inaugural game.  and was a WNBA All-Star in 2000.

Milton-Jones' first game as interim coach is Saturday night at Utah, which is 17-0. The Stars' next home game is at 7:30 p.m. Monday against Ontario.

Milton-Jones succeeds Burell Lee, who resigned for personal reasons after guiding the first-year team to a 6-7 record.

``I have really enjoyed working as an assistant with coach Lee and feel strongly that I can contribute to the success of this team,'' Milton-Jones said.
