ADD to BW0124, sent Sept. 17, 1996, INTERGRAPH-SOFTWARE.

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 1996--Intergraph Software Solutions (ISS ISS

See Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS).
) today reported that Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. (R)-based products account for 86 percent of its sales over the last 12 months.

"These sales figures sales figures nplcifras fpl de ventas  weren't surprising," said Tommy Steele Tommy Steele OBE (born December 17, 1936 in London, England) is an English entertainer. Steele is widely regarded as Britain's first pop idol. Born Thomas Willam Hicks , president of ISS, at Networld Interop. "When we started shipping products in 1993, we partnered with Microsoft to demonstrate technical solutions on Windows NT. The combination of being able to have business and technical solutions on one desktop was a very compelling story to our customers. With the release of Windows NT 4.0 features combined with the Windows(R) 95 interface, it just got easier."

"Intergraph has really captured Microsoft's vision of the future by creating native Windows applications and we applaud their achievements," said Bill Gates (person) Bill Gates - William Henry Gates III, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft, which he co-founded in 1975 with Paul Allen. In 1994 Gates is a billionaire, worth $9.35b and Microsoft is worth about $27b. , CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Today, Intergraph ships more than 150 commercial, 32-bit applications for Windows NT, making Intergraph the world's largest provider of technical software for the Windows NT platform.

Intergraph's Windows NT sales far exceed the forecasts of many analysts such as Dataquest, which predicted that even by the year 2000, sales of Windows NT products in the CAD/CAM/CAE markets would be under 25 percent.

"We still expect the migration to Windows NT to continue at the pace we predicted. Intergraph jumped on the NT bandwagon before any other company; its figures are going to reflect that," said Sharon Tan, senior analyst, Dataquest. "Intergraph took a very aggressive approach in converting its products and customers to Windows NT as well. Clearly, Intergraph is leading the migration to Windows NT."

Market analyst Daratech -- a leading authority on CAD, CAM, CAE (1) (Computer-Aided Engineering) Software that analyzes designs which have been created in the computer or that have been created elsewhere and entered into the computer.  and GIS companies -- has applauded the transition.

"Intergraph's strong commitment to Windows NT, and its ability to take customers over to a non-proprietary system that runs both technical and business applications has been very impressive," said Charles Foundyller, president of Daratech. "Intergraph has provided the tools and the support to make the transition painless, productive and cost-effective for end users."

Interoperability Tools Developed

One of the most important tools Intergraph has developed to enable the transition is its family of interoperability products, Access NFS (Network File System) The file sharing protocol in a Unix network. This de facto Unix standard, which is widely known as a "distributed file system," was developed by Sun. See file sharing protocol and WebNFS.

 and Windows NT.

In addition, Intergraph offers support to customers making the transition to Windows NT. Intergraph has 1,400 highly trained specialists worldwide offering assistance to its customers.

When the Graphics Mapping Team at Texaco Exploration and Production Inc., a subsidiary of Texaco, decided to port their software applications to Windows NT, they chose Intergraph to aid in the process. "Intergraph was building the expertise that other service vendors simply couldn't provide, especially so early in the Windows NT game," said Ray Bonifacio, the migration project leader.

After the transition, team leader Jim Bennett said, "In the Windows NT environment, we really have been able to integrate our technical/graphics work with the mainline mainline Drug slang verb To inject a drug  applications used by other Texaco employees. With a single system on users' desktops, we've significantly cut our system costs, not to mention how much it costs us to support those systems. And what's really important is that with more efficient, productive technology, we've reduced the cycle time it takes us to complete projects."

Intergraph has brought CAD into the mainstream of computing in two ways. "We've embraced the Windows NT platform, but we have gone further to provide support for OLE in Windows NT," added Steele. "OLE extends the native Windows environment (1) (upper case "W") Refers to computers running under a Microsoft Windows operating system.

(2) (lower case "w") Also called a "windowing environment," it refers to any software that provides multiple windows on screen such as Windows, Mac, Motif and X Window.
to handle real-world geometry. These extensions allow Intergraph and others to build technical applications that can be integrated fully with one another, including office automation tools and other native Windows-based software."
