* Construction Practices Within the Multi-Dwelling Unit

* Properly Training Next-Generation Technicians on Next-Generation Products

* Advanced Fiber Management: The Impact from the CO to the Outside Plant

"As fiber is deployed deeper into the network to enable broadband service delivery, both the outside plant and central office are undergoing significant changes," said Jack Field, vice president of product management for Global Connectivity Solutions at ADC. "ADC is excited about the opportunity to share our knowledge and expertise of network infrastructures and fiber-to-the-x technologies to help outside plant professionals meet the unique challenges presented by FTTX (Fiber To The X) Refers to all the "fiber-to-the-wherever" technologies. See FTTC and FTTP. See also FTX. ."

ADC OmniReach Solutions

Solutions on display at ADC's booth will include the company's suite of products that extend through all areas of the network, from the central office to the premises. They include OmniReach[TM] fiber-to-the-x (FTTX) solutions for distribution, access, and multi-dwelling units (MDU (1) (Multiple Dwelling Unit) A commercial or residential building with multiple offices or apartments. See BLEC.

Free ADC Educational Seminars

ADC will present two free 40-minute seminars at the OSP EXPO on August 29. The first seminar, "Properly Training Next Generation Technicians on Next-Generation Products," is scheduled from 2:15 - 2:55 p.m. Presented by Ray Hagen, associate product manager, the FTTX Group at ADC, the session will address key issues related to ensuring next-generation technicians understand the importance of practicing good techniques and procedures when working in the next-generation optical environment of FTTP (Fiber To The Premises) The installation of optical fiber from the carrier directly into the home or office. Also called "fiber to the home" (FTTH). See PON and FTTC. See also FTP. .

The second session, "Advanced Fiber Management:The Impact from the CO to the Outside Plant," is scheduled from 3:15 - 3:55 p.m. In this session, David Rapp, senior product manager for Central Office Fiber Products at ADC, will explore why events in the central office have a direct impact on the outside plant, and vice-versa. Rapp also will provide information on the four crucial elements of fiber cable management.

ADC Advanced Seminars

In addition to its free sessions, ADC will offer two full-day advanced seminars from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., August 28. Participants will earn eight BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International, Tampa, FL, www.bicsi.org) An international telecommunications association providing education, registration and resources for professionals involved in the design and installation of low-voltage distribution systems in commercial and  Continuing Education Credits for each advanced seminar attended. Tuition for the seminars is $399.

Doug Ellens, a senior principal systems engineer at ADC, will present "Construction Practices within the Multi-Dwelling Unit." The session will provide insight on construction and design guidelines for Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) deployment strategies. In addition to connecting fiber and structured cabling, Ellens will discuss drivers for architectural and topological choices, determining factors in network efficiency, and why design must take a system approach. Ellens also will explore the impact of cable, conduit and electronics within the MDU environment.

In his seminar, "Is My Network Ready for GPON?" presenter Patrick Sims, a senior principal systems engineer at ADC, will investigate the key elements and architectural components in transitioning from BPON See PON.  to GPON deployments. Making the correct decisions regarding PON (Passive Optical Network) An optical point-to-multipoint access network. There are no optical repeaters or other active devices in a PON, hence the name "passive.  implementation techniques, carriers maximize the flexibility of their networks to enable smooth and rapid migration to the next PON level. This provides customers with many years of reliable cutting-edge services and applications.
