(2) (Apple Display Connector) A peripheral connector from Apple that combines digital video display, USB and power in one cable.
(Nasdaq:ADCT ADCT Adaptive Discrete Cosine Transform ; www.adc.com) recently announced it will now ship its high-density DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) A cable modem standard from the CableLabs research consortium (www.cablelabs.com), which provides equipment certification for interoperability.  2.0 CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) A computerized device that enables cable modems to send and receive packets over the Internet. It inserts IP packets from the Internet into MPEG frames and transmits them to the cable modems via an RF signal.  module for the Cuda 12000 Next-Generation cable modem termination system A cable modem termination system or CMTS is equipment typically found in a cable company's headend, or at cable company hubsite and is used to provide high speed data services, such as cable internet or Voice over IP, to cable subscribers.  (CMTS). This new CMTS module, based on Broadcom's DOCSIS 2.0 chipset, is capable of providing throughput of nearly 500 Mbps. With these increased data rates, multiple system operators (MSOs) can compete more effectively with existing providers to deliver symmetrical broadband applications such as voice, business grade high-speed data services and peer-to-peer functionality.

"As MSOs explore new technologies to increase their revenue streams, the evolution to a DOCSIS 2.0-based solution is a logical path to follow," said Lindsay Schroth, analyst for the Yankee Group (the Yankee Group, Boston, MA, www.yankeegroup.com) A major market research, analysis and consulting firm founded in 1970 by Howard Anderson. It provides general consulting and strategic planning in the computer and communications field. . "ADC has been very aggressive in the pace of its software and hardware releases during the past 12 months, and we believe that the DOCSIS 2.0-based module adds a great value to the company's existing CMTS portfolio."

"DOCSIS 2.0 is a substantial upgrade for MSOs and will give them the tools to offer enhanced voice, video and data services on a single platform," said Hilton Nicholson, president of the IP Cable Business Unit for ADC. "ADC has been working with Broadcom since the release of their DOCSIS 2.0-based chipset in June 2003. We are confident that our introduction of this new CMTS module will result in tremendous benefits to cable operators who require a proven, carrier-class solution to roll out advanced IP solutions."

ADC's Cuda CMTS platform, the most widely deployed carrier-class CMTS with more than 1000 units in use worldwide, provides MSOs with a foundation for delivering advanced multimedia services such as VoIP and gaming. With its recently announced carrier-class upgrades, the Cuda 12000 provides cable operators with the ability to change or add modules and install new software versions with no system downtime The time during which a computer is not functioning due to hardware, operating system or application program failure. .

In addition, ADC's FastFlow Broadband Provisioning Manager software, which has been selected by Adelphia, Cox and many other MSOs, has a 20% share of the rapidly growing provisioning market in the U.S.
