ADC Video Systems Enhances its PixlNet Videoconferencing System With ISDN Capability.

MERIDEN, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 1995--ADC Video Systems, Inc. (AVS), today announced enhancements to its PixlNet(TM) Multipoint Videoconferencing System.

(Primary Rate Interface) An ISDN service that provides 23 64 Kbps B (Bearer) channels and one 64 Kbps D (Data) channel (23B+D), which is equivalent to the 24 channels of a T1 line.
) capabilities with multisession bonding will be available. Multisession bonding is a protocol for allowing the transmission of multiple users over a single PRI line, providing efficient bandwidth management.

"The ability to utilize ISDN in videoconferencing is critical to today's market. Because 80% of all videoconferencing traffic is 384K or less, using T1 or fractional T1 lines is not cost-effective," stated John Holobinko, ADC Video Systems Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Planning.

Additionally, ADC Video Systems is implementing Non-Facility Associated Signaling (NFAS NFAS Non-Facility Associated Signaling

) and triple BRI interface, both available November 30, 1995. Using NFAS allows up to 20 PRI lines to be controlled by a single "D" channel. Said Holobinko, "BRI is rapidly becoming the interface of choice for many videoconferencing participants because this combination of IMUX See inverse multiplexor.  and ISDN is an economical solution for 384K transmission."

The PixlNet system is ADC Video Systems' real-time, interactive multipoint videoconference control system which provides multiple virtual networks for both private and switched network applications. The PixlNet system provides multipoint video connectivity and real-time conference management to what have traditionally been point-to-point networks.
