The chassis includes OC3/STM-1, DS1/E1 and DS3 network interfaces to satisfy the widest variety of network requirements worldwide. Like all Avidia platforms, the Avidia 6000 is built on a distributed ATM fabric, which ensures the quality of service (QoS) required for carriers to deliver advanced services, such as voice over DSL, virtual private networks and video on demand. The Avidia 6000 is both CE and NEBS Level 3 compliant, giving global carriers the highest level of assurance of product safety and operability Operability is the ability to keep a system in a functioning and operating condition. StarGazer simplifies network management and maintenance by enabling carriers to remotely view and manage all ADC devices connected to any Avidia chassis. Carriers taking advantage of Avidia's subtending capability get extended value from StarGazer, which can manage all subtended chassis through a single management interface.

The Avidia 6000 currently is being deployed by alternative service provider Global Village Telecom of Brazil to provide traditional and broadband services to both residential and business subscribers. The Avidia 6000 is available now with pricing subject to volume and configuration.
