2 and HDSL4 products. The chipset provides significantly lower power consumption and improved thermal performance, helping telecommunications service providers efficiently and cost effectively deploy high-speed data services throughout North America. HDSLx technology uses copper infrastructure to deliver T1 services, primarily to small- and medium-sized businesses.

Currently all five Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOC (Regional Bell Operating Company) The Bell telephone companies that were spun off of AT&T by court order in 1984 (the Divestiture). Also known as the "Baby Bells," the initial seven RBOCs were Nynex, Bell Atlantic, BellSouth, Southwestern Bell, US West, ) have ADC HDSLx offerings deployed in their networks. Several of these service providers are now evaluating ADC's products using the new Metalink chipset. With the new chipset, carriers can obtain a feature-rich and highly reliable HDSLx solution for their networks.

"We selected Metalink for its innovative leadership and expertise in DSL technologies," said Mike Pratt, president of the Wireline Systems Business Unit at ADC. "After evaluating several options, including in-house development, we determined that Metalink would give us the most technically innovative solution, with significant product feature and cost advantages. Working with Metalink, ADC can tap a level of experience and best-of-class capabilities that go beyond HDSLx. Metalink's demonstrated professionalism and customer support has been outstanding as well."

ADC offers a complete line of HDSL, HDSL2 and HDSL4 platforms, including the industry's first HDSL4 products independently certified to be compliant with the HDSL4 standard. Soneplex/HiGain HDSL4 products include line units, repeaters and enclosures and comes in a full range of form factors, including industry-standard 220 and 3190, Lucent DDM (Distributed Data Management) Software in an IBM SNA environment that allows users to access data in remote files within the network. DDM works with IBM's LU 6.2 session to provide peer-to-peer communications and file sharing. See also distributed database.  Plus, and Soneplex.

"Metalink has developed technology and products for telecommunications and networking equipment makers for more than a decade," said Tzvika Shukhman, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  at Metalink. "We have deployed more than six million chipsets in various products, so our expertise and capabilities in making first-in-world, high quality products is proven. We are eager to help ADC enhance existing networks and ultimately help service providers deliver highly reliable and efficient services."

About Metalink

Metalink Ltd, a fabless semiconductor company A fabless semiconductor company specializes in the design and sale of hardware devices implemented on semiconductor chips. It achieves an advantage by outsourcing the fabrication of the devices to a specialized semiconductor manufacturer called a semiconductor foundry or "fab. , develops and markets high performance broadband access chip sets used by telecommunications and networking equipment makers. Metalink's silicon solutions enable cost effective, very high-speed delivery of next generation broadband access over copper infrastructure. Metalink's products address one of the major challenges for cost-effective completion of an end-to-end "All-IP" Ethernet based access network by enabling true broadband Ethernet speeds over the existing infrastructure. VDSL, the most advanced and affordable xDSL technology, maximizes the use of available copper capacity and provides scalable symmetric and asymmetric "Ethernet grade" rates under all deployment scenarios in private and public networks. Metalink EoVDSL product line include the densest and fastest standard compliant QAM VDSL products serving the dramatically increasing bandwidth demand in the Asia-Pacific region, and especially in Korea and Japan. Metalink is also a leader in the North American and International T1/E1 over Symmetric DSL transport market. Metalink's HDSL2, HDSL4 and SHDSL solutions allow service providers to reduce the deployment costs for T1/E1 systems by reducing the need for costly repeaters used in older HDSL and T1/E1 systems. The Company's top-level DSP, communications and mixed signal capabilities, along with its leadership in standards bodies worldwide, are establishing Metalink as a leader in the field of broadband access.
