ADC NewNet and JSI Telecom Successfully Test the J-STD-025 Collection and Delivery Function Interface for CALEA Compliance.

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 1998--ADC Telecommunications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADCT; www.adc.com) announced today that the ADC NewNet CALEAserver(TM) tests were successful against JSI Telecom's digital collection platform VoiceBox(TM) for CALEA compliance (Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act).

Passed by Congress in 1994, the CALEA law orders all telecommunications service providers to upgrade their networks to meet law enforcement agencies' wiretap capacity and capability requirements. The purpose of the act is to preserve wiretap ability as it is applied to new forms of telecommunications.

In order to aid telecommunications service providers, who are responsible for complying to the CALEA law, as well as the law enforcement community, ADC NewNet and JSI Telecom have achieved J-STD-025 CALEA functionality by successfully completing call scenarios made in their testing facilities. This also satisfies two of the "punch list" items as set by the FBI.
