ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT ADCT Adaptive Discrete Cosine Transform  www.adc.com) today announced that Verizon has approved ADC's Passive Fiber Optic Component (PFOC) Test Lab under the Verizon Independent PFOC Test Lab (ITL ITL

Designed to speed the testing and approval process, ADC's lab is the first to receive certification to conduct in-house testing of fiber components and assemblies under this Program. ADC partnered with Underwriters Laboratories Underwriters Laboratories Inc. is a U.S. not-for-profit, privately owned and operated product safety testing and certification organization. Based in Northbrook, Illinois, UL develops standards and test procedures for products, materials, components, assemblies, tools and  and Verizon to achieve this approval.

"As Verizon's first PFOC-certified Fiber Cable Assemblies supplier lab, ADC can now manufacture and test fiber connectorized cable jumpers and assemblies that are typically used in Verizon's optical networks," said Tom Kampf, director of fiber solutions of the Connectivity Business Unit for ADC. "The investment made in our in-house capabilities to test these products will only strengthen our relationships with key customers. We have every confidence that ADC's lab facility is prepared to manage capacity for GR-326-CORE testing and we look forward to the cost and flexibility benefits both ADC and Verizon will achieve with this certification."

ADC received authorization to do in-house witness testing of the above mentioned fiber products based on the company's ability to meet Verizon's technical requirements, the Telcordia testing standards, and demonstrated fiber optic lab expertise and facilities. With this approval, ADC will be better able to control product quality, its manufacturing process and costs. This also allows ADC to complete its testing in a timely manner, enabling Verizon to receive its fiber products faster and more efficiently.

The testing process allows ADC to test, with UL witnessing, any fiber optic component to the GR-326 standard including all connector styles and cable/connector combinations. The lab, based in Shakopee, Minnesota Shakopee is a city in Scott County, Minnesota, United States.

The population was 20,568 in the 2000 census, with an estimated 2004 population of just short of 30,000, representing a growth of around 43 percent. It is the county seat of Scott County6.
