First Optical Test Access System to Allow Remote Non-Intrusive

Monitoring and Access for Fault Isolation of Fiber Networks

ADC (Nasdaq: ADCT; www.adc.com) today announced the availability of the FSXpert(TM), the first smart optical remote test access system for fiber networks. This advanced solution provides network operators access into fiber optic networks for testing or monitoring. FSXpert is a modular system with the flexibility to allow a multitude of configurations to best meet the needs of the customer's network. ADC will feature the FSXpert system at SuperComm, booth No.7439, June 6-8, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The FSXpert system uses fiber optic splitters and switches to provide access to the network. This includes the ability to perform remote monitoring and loopbacks, and signal routing through an optical test set. Graphical user interface (GUI) software with point-and-click operation controls the system. Also, FSXpert can be integrated into existing test Operations Support Systems (OSS) via Transaction Language 1 (TL1) or (SNMP) interfaces. An all-optical solution, FSXpert is protocol independent, permitting users to utilize the system in any optical network (SONET, SDH, ATM, Gigabit Ethernet, etc.).

FSXpert is the most recent addition to ADC's remote test access product family that includes DSXpert(TM), which enables remote management of T1/T3 and E1/E3/S(TM)-1 lines, and IPXpert(TM) for IP/ATM data networks. Together, these products give our customers a complete solution allowing them to test and monitor their complete network from a DS1 to an OC-192. The FSXpert system further leverages ADC's connectivity leadership position by supplying value added system solutions to the market.
